Standard Cleaning Procedure
How We Clean Between Each Tent Hire
Cleanliness and hygiene are our top priority here at Earthrise Camping. In fact we spend around 80% of our time cleaning our equipment, ready for the next happy camper to enjoy!
Nobody wants to unpack a tent that smells like someone else’s adventure. That’s why every tent is thoroughly cleaned and inspected between hires to ensure it’s fresh, dry, and ready for you to use. Our cleaning process means you can set up knowing that the tent you’ve hired is cleaner than most people’s own gear, no weird odours, no leftover mess, no grimness from previous adventures.
Here’s how we do it:
Full Inspection
We unpack and check each tent carefully for any signs of damage, excess dirt, or wear. Zips, seams, guy lines, poles, the lot are all checked to ensure everything is in working order. From our experience we know how tents can fail, so we know exactly what to look for. From the slightest tear to the most bent of poles, we make it our mission to ensure no tents fail whilst out in the field.
Thorough Clean
We remove all loose debris and dirt with a brush or handheld vacuum. Then we wipe down key areas like the groundsheet, doorways, and inner walls using a gentle, fabric-safe, sterilising cleaner. Zips, mesh windows, and high-contact points get extra attention. Every surface gets hospital grade treatment, as we know how grimy some people can be. So we can assure you of no weird smells or strange stains inside your tent.
Dry & Fresh
After cleaning, we ensure the tent is completely dry to prevent any dampness or mildew. We use portable fans and dehumidifiers where needed and apply a light, fabric-safe deodoriser, so your tent smells fresh and clean. Nothing ruins a camping trip or festival like unpacking a musty tent that’s been stored damp, so we ensure that all our tents are dry and stored correctly to prevent this from happening.
Packed & Ready
Once cleaned and checked, the tent is carefully folded and repacked with all essential components (poles, pegs, guy lines). Ready for the next hire. We double check all pegs and guy line adjusters before packing and if anything is not to our liking we will replace these. We’ll even throw in a couple of spare pegs as one or two always seem to go missing on site!
Deep Clean
At the end of the season, every tent in our collection undergoes a deep clean and maintenance check before being stored.
This includes:
– A full wash using specialist tent cleaning solutions.
– Reproofing of outer fabrics to restore waterproof protection
– Treatment for mildew or mould, if necessary.
– Checking and repairing zips, seams, poles, and guy lines.
– Air drying in a controlled space to ensure no dampness is left before storage.
Fast, effective cleaning — without cutting corners.
Our streamlined process means your tent is cleaned to a high standard in under 20 minutes, ensuring a fast turnaround without compromising hygiene or comfort.
If you have any specific hygiene concerns or requests, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help.
Please note: As rental equipment, all our tents have been previously used and may display minor exterior staining (watermarks, dirt, rust spots, or treated mildew stains) that cannot be removed despite our thorough cleaning and treatment processes. These cosmetic marks do not compromise the tent’s performance, safety, or hygiene standards.
